This seems to be a fairly widespread problem.

http://www.freebsd.org/platforms/sparc.html says that FreeBSD _should_
run on the 650 and 850, though it hasn't been tested.  Have you tried
booting it?  Are you in a position to assist in getting FreeBSD running?
