Brother HL-L2340D printer and lpd?

I'm almost sure the colon after "LPT1" or "PRN" was not required, those
were reserved device names even without a colon.

I've been unable to print anything PCL on it (thank you for your
samples, but no success so far).

I would not mind uploading fonts into a line printer. I used to do that
a couple of times from a printcap filter, to print Cyrillic on a Laser
Jet printer without Cyrillic characters.
