Some things you can try:

1) Does "pkg check -d -a" find anything?

2) Check the output of these commands:

grep pkg /var/log/messages
bzgrep pkg /var/log/messages.*

Maybe a package was removed that shouldn't have been removed.  Try
reinstalling it.

3) Run "pkg upgrade" to make sure you have the latest version of all
packages.
