For me the obvious things work:

# pkg search cad |grep -i free
FreeCAD-0.17.13509             General purpose 3D CAD modeller
# pkg search CAD | grep -i free
FreeCAD-0.17.13509             General purpose 3D CAD modeller
#

This on 10.4-STABLE from 23 March.
