Shortly I'll have a system with an Adaptec 2940U2W ultra2 scsi
controller and a Ultra2 (LVD) HDD.
I want to run linux. I am aware the current kernel does not
support this hardware. At:
ftp://ftp.dialnet.net/pub/linux/aic7xxx/aic7xxx.TODO
there is mention of support in the upcoming 5.1.XX series
driver. How far away is this likely to be? Is there a beta
of the driver which I can try?
I've had a look at the freebsd cam code, and (probably incorrectly)
could assume that the linux code (hopefully) isn't too far away.
Any pointers or assistance _greatfully_ appreciated!
If I can't run linux on it, I'll probably just do a full install
of starship titanic. But I would prefer the hardware to be used for
some good.
