Hello,

I am not sure if this is the right mail-group. Sorry if not - pleas
let me know.

And this is my problem:

Since the patch of aic7xxx.c for the linux kernel 2.1.104 my Adaptec
AHA-2940 (very old version) can't detect any devices any more.

Normally it do something like this:

0: (scsi0) <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 10/0
1: (scsi0) Narrow Channel, SCSI ID=7, 16/255 SCBs
2: (scsi0) BIOS enabled, IO Port 0xe000, IRQ 10
3: (scsi0) IO Memory at 0xe5800000, MMAP Memory at 0xc8802000
4: (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 406 instructions downloaded
5: scsi0 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI)
6: 5.0.13/3.2.4
7:        <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter>
8: scsi : 1 host.
9: (scsi0:0:-1:-1) Scanning channel for devices.
A: (scsi0:0:0:0) Synchronous at 10.0MHz, offset 15.
B:   Vendor: IBM       Model: DPES-31080        Rev: S31QV
C:   Type:   Direct-Access                      ANSI SCSI revision: 02
D: Detected scsi disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0

but now it hang up after line 9 with the message:

scsi: aborting command due to timeout: pid 1, scsi 0, chanel 0, id 0,
  lun 0 Inquiry 00 00 00 ff 00

and starts to loop with abort and reset messages!

I changed nothing to the kernel/config.h which locks a little like
this: [commentary removed]

CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=y
CONFIG_SCSI_CONSTANTS=y
CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX=y
CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY=15

I played a little bit with the "reset delay" and the "pci parity" but
nothing changed.

So, pleas, can anyone tell me what has changed and what I have to do
to get it working again.

Anyway: Until 2.1.103 - Very good work!

Thanks Heiko
