 I confirm the problem on my system.

 No extra options are set for Device section of the "intel" video
 driver in xorg.conf . The configuration works well with
 xorg-server-1.6.5, but with 1.7.5 the whole system (not just X) hangs
 after the X server has just started - the screen is blank, no way to
 get the Xorg.log as it's not yet flushed to the disk. Also, changing
 the driver to "vesa" in the same xorg.conf makes the X server start
 with no problem.
