The port is not comitted or decided upon yet. There is ports/131276 but
it has old snapshot. The new snapshot depends on libdrm_nouveau.so which
is only in git at the moment. So I think it's better to wait for a new
release of libdrm before replying to the PR with update.

I don't know about any progress on porting *current* DRM code for
nouveau. But the DDX driver *just* worked out of the git. So I packaged
it in a port for others to try.

Right. Though I don't know if any of 2D accel parts require DRM support
(eg., EXA, Xv, XvMC).

It should be as simple as
- delete nvidia-driver (if you have one installed)
- extract, compile and install libdrm and nouveau.
- enable nouveau in xorg.conf
If you happen to want one from that PR then you don't need new
libdrm. The one already in ports should work fine.
