OpenSSL version in -STABLE?

As I understand it, there are plans for a major upgrade of OpenSSL in
-CURRENT.

Will this likely be backported to 11-STABLE or should I prepare
switching to 12 when it is ready? Would prefer not to be dependant on
the security/openssl port.
