I removed it and and rebuilt/installed it from the ports tree:

cyrus-sasl-2.1.26_9            RFC 2222 SASL (Simple Authentication and
Security Layer)
cyrus-sasl-saslauthd-2.1.26_1  SASL authentication server for cyrus-sasl2


I then remove these and installed using 'pkg'.  Same results.
