9.1-RC2 - could it be that the installer does not write the MBR?

Yes.
I've long since given up on FreeBSD for workstations - I simply don't
have the time to get everything right.

How many people actually do that, now that there are so many
virtualization-options?

And how do you remove GRUB?
The original OS did no longer boot in my case....

Do I need to file a PR for this?
