BTW: I also saw 2 of the errors coming from a BIND9 running in a jail  
on that box.

My initial guess: it happens sooner or later somehow - whether it is a  
lot of traffic in one go (ssh/scp copies of virtual disks) or a lot of  
traffic over a longer period (a nameserver gets asked again and again).
