I actually read this, but I didn't figure that I have to
remove the lines

device         ath_hal         # Atheros HAL (Hardware Access Layer)
device         ath_rate_sample # SampleRate tx rate control for ath

from my kernel config.

I'm on a retry, thanks for the hint.
