I've often wondered this, now seems a pertinent time to ask, what is the
significance of the "OS" setting in the Compaq bios? I think I've
traditionally set it to "Linux" for want of a better choice (!), but I've
never been clear on what difference, if any, it makes. Anyone care to
enlighten me? Any settings I should, or shouldn't, use? (I'll check what
I have set for APIC too, although I don't have any multiprocessor machines
just now).
