Thanks, but I am running 9.3-RELEASE-p10 w/ GENERIC kernels, not 
recompiling. The question has pretty much been answered, & upon further 
review I think I remember this happening in the past when I did a 
freebsd-update & the kernel didn't get upgraded, only other binaries, so 
I think all is well here. Thanks again.
