i been using an old mini-itx mainboard for many years with no problems,
they are cheap and handle server stuff easily. power supplies are the
hardest thing for me to keep alive, so opt for a good supply with a ball
bearing fan.
probably your most expensive item will be memory if you want alot but
small amounts of memory IE 2gb isnt too bad on the wallet.
