What's the output of (on the pxeboot/tftp/dhcp server):
$ showmount -e | grep "^[[:space:]]*/news/spool/ad16/x86"
(empty? it shouldn't be)
$ grep "^[[:space:]]*/news/spool/ad16/x86" /etc/exports
(empty? it shouldn't be)
