Portsnap and freebsd-update don't work behind transparent proxy?

I have a 2 fresh installs of FreeBSD 6.2 on i386 box and on a vmware host.

Both hosts are behind a transparent proxy.

Both tools, which use phttp, fail.

# freebsd-update fetch

snapshot is corrupt.



I've tried multiple times all day. Same results each time.

How do I get around this?
