Installation freebsd freezes on Sun Ultra 30

I found this post on the freebsd/sparc64 list -

- pointing out that the installation might not work with anything else 
than a serial console connected. So disconnect your keyboard (to prevent 
graphical mode) and connect to the serial port of your machine.
