phpMyAdmin installation troubles...

Several days ago I encountered the same situation.

FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE
Same error exactly
Same steps followed, same outcome

The difference is I didn't post it - mainly because I thought I was kind 
of over my "help quota" with MySQL, php etc etc.
