raster text mode for ATI Mach64

Hello,

I have a machine with an integrated Mach64 adapter and I would like to use the VESA_800x600 raster text mode. I have the appropriate options in my kernel and when loading the vesa kernel module it reports VESA v2.0 support. However, setting the video mode always fails with 'Operation not supported by device.'

Is there a good reference on what the requirements are for VESA_800x600 to work? I thought all I needed was 'options SC_PIXEL_MODE', the vesa module and reported VESA 2.0 support, but apparently this is not always the case.
