mouse curser

Would you mind modifing your mailer so that the lines are < 72? Long
lines are a pain to read on the shell.

I have the same configuration (more or less) and don't experiance
problems. Could you send me you /etc/rc.conf and your X configuration?

It could be a case of misconfiguration.
