Found out some new stuff:

KWrite starts up quickly, but Kate does not.
So I guess Kate creates temporary files.
Could the problem be related to my /tmp partition?
Should I try to turn SoftUpdates off, or reformat the partition?
Is it possible that this is a filesystem bug?
