Hello Chris,

While I've been using kMail for a long time as my mail-client of choice,
there should be something to fit your needs.
What about Mozilla? Or Thunderbird?
I'm not sure, but maybe there is a mail-client written in Java?

I'd try Mozilla or Thunderbird. I'm not sure if there is a FreeBSD version of
Thunderbird (I don't think so...), but since I've heard many good things
about FreeBSD's Linux-emulation it should be possible to make it run on
FreeBSD.
Mozilla is available for FreeBSD via packages (it's included on the install
disc, I think), Thunderbird is available at www.mozilla.org.

If that don't work, you can use VNC or something, or else install a
ssh-client on your windows-box and run the mail-client remotely on your
FreeBSD-box. I understand you need a solution for at home, not for your
workplace.

Hope it helps,

kind regards,

Benjamin
