5.1 & Compaq Smart Array

Duh, I let myself forget that it doesn't even get into the installation  
process correctly...

One thing you could try, just for the test, would be to install 5.1 on  
a different machine and make sure safe mode is enforced (acpi, eisa  
probe, etc... like in the errata). Then put the disk in the Compaq and  
see if it boots, and if it does, re-enable things one by one until it  
stops working.

But I think I remember you said you need to setup this server asap ;)
