Toshiba: Portege 610ct: FreeBSD installation fails on MFS floppy disk

Hello,

I'm trying to install FreeBSD on my laptop Toshiba 610ct. Both, 4.8 and
5.0,
are failing on the second stage when MFS floppy is put.

I don't have CD-rom on this machine, so I initially have to use floppies
to
boot up and then use Ethernet to install further.

I think it's hardware-driver problems. The BIOS doesn't have many
options to
change/disable peripherals. I had Win95 on this machine installed
previously. I wrote down all the hardware settings, e.g. IRQ, IO ports.

This is what I tried to do so far:

FreeBSD 5.0: I followed the installation guide. The first
floppy(kernel.flp)
goes fine. When insert the mfsroot floppy it goes through, and gives
this
error :"panic: hashinit: bad elements ... Fatal trap 12: page fault
while in
kernel ... Uptime: 1s". And obviously it hangs. On FreeBSD 4.8, when I
insert the second floppy, after reading off the disk the computer
restarts
without any error report.

I also tried to change irq settings for PCIC device at OK prompt, with
no
luck. However, if insert kernel.flp disk when it asks me for mfsroot the
OS
will continue booting. 4.8 will initializes some of the devices , but
then
it stop at init point with this error: "panic: no init". On 5.0 it will
prompt me for mountroot.

Please, help me. I really wanna put FreeBSD system on this computer.
