linux_base 6.x vs. 7.x ?

Yes, but clues as to which one to choose are provided.

6 is red had 6, 7 is red hat 7. Use the one that you get with the port
linux_base. The one that is linux_base_<stuff> is either an old
version kept around for some reason, or a development version.

Just one of them will do. Given the names, you want linux_base, which
is 7. Since that's the most recent red hat, that's probably the one
that will cause you the least grief and work with everything you want
the longest.
