Same here. Using gnome-terminal and the artifacts are all gone. This is
both the black line and the garbage characters.
Don't forget that you need to restart gnome-terminal completely. It's
probably best to log out and back in after the upgrade. Normally a single
instance of gnome-terminal and VTE handle all displays, so without a
full restart you are likely to still have the old version running.
