k3b Problems

[Beech Rintoul]

I'm having a problem with k3b burning dvd's. The first dvd burns ok, from an 
iso or copy. If I try and do a second copy, or another copy from a different 
dvd I get the following error:

 /usr/local/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/cd0=/usr/iso/entrepreneur-dvd.iso -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -dvd-compat -speed=5 -overburn -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:32m
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/usr/iso/entrepreneur-dvd.iso of=/dev/pass0 obs=32k 
seek=0'
:-[ SET STREAMING failed with SK=5h/ASC=26h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error

Using the same command in a shell to growisofs produces the same error. If I 
reboot the box I can burn one dvd then get the error on any further attempts. 
Obviously, I'm not going to reboot every time I need to burn a dvd.

However if I use the following from dvd+rw-tools everything is fine:

pinnacle# growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/cd0=/usr/iso/entrepreneur-dvd.iso
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/usr/iso/entrepreneur-dvd.iso of=/dev/pass0 obs=32k 
seek=0'
/dev/pass0: "Current Write Speed" is 6.1x1385KBps.
         0/2268758016 ( 0.0%) @0x, remaining ??:?? RBU 100.0%
         0/2268758016 ( 0.0%) @0x, remaining ??:?? RBU 100.0%
         0/2268758016 ( 0.0%) @0x, remaining ??:?? RBU 100.0%
         0/2268758016 ( 0.0%) @0x, remaining ??:?? RBU 100.0%

This goes on normally till completion.

uname: FreeBSD pinnacle.akherb.com 6.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE #12: 
Thu Apr  6 17:19:24 AKDT 2006

DVD Drive : AOPEN DUW1608/ARR

Any help on this would be appreciated. My client is not very command line 
savvy and not very comfortable without the gui.
