Bug ID: 211076
Summary: print/jabref: Keyboard focus problems
Product: Ports & Packages
Version: Latest
Hardware: i386
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: Individual Port(s)
Assignee: mandree at FreeBSD.org
Reporter: alexander.klein at physiologie.med.uni-giessen.de

When I start Jabref, I usually cannot type any text in any of the text fields.
This problem can be amended most of the time by pressing F5 twice, so I can
search again for things in Medline, for example.
However, when I later try to add or edit an entry manually, there will be
severe focus issues again, and sometimes it will take forever to move e.g. from
Author to Journal by pressing Tab, if it works at all.
This has been an issue for quite a while, and the last versions to work for me
sufficiently reliable seem to be
jabref-2.10,1 and openjdk-7.80.15_1,1.
I have CTWM as my window manager, and the following version of openjdk8:
% java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_66"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_66-b17)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 25.66-b17, mixed mode)
Aside from the strange focus issues, I get the following warning on startup:
% jabref&
11:51:58.216 [AWT-EventQueue-0] WARN net.sf.jabref.JabRefGUI - There seem to
be problems with OpenJDK and the default GTK Look&Feel. Using Metal L&F
instead. Change to another L&F with caution.
