Trying to get a built-in webcam (Dell M4800 laptop) to work -- clues?

Not sure why webcamd doesn't start but you could try starting it
manually:
webcamd -d 1.3
If that exits too I guess it doesn't know your webcam, you can try
building its port with the DEBUG knob set and then look at the
terminal output (again when starting it with -d 1.3 .)
