pvr250 - can't select input

I was having problems with a pvr-a-like PCI card so decided to swap it
for the "real thing": Hauppauge PVR-250.
I've built the multimedia/pvr250 port and the kernel module detects the
device:
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: <Conexant iTVC16 MPEG Coder> mem
0xf4000000-0xf7ffffff at device 6.0 on pci1
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm_iic0: <Conexant iTVC15 / iTVC16 I2C
controller> on cxm0
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: iicbb0: <I2C bit-banging driver> on
cxm_iic0
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: iicbus0: <Philips I2C bus> on iicbb0
master-only
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: Temic 4006 FH5 tuner
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: SAA7115 rev 1 video decoder
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: MSP3415G-B8 audio decoder
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: IR Remote
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
Jan 28 11:47:57 hairball kernel: cxm0: encoder firmware version 0x2060039
However I can't get any input to work:
[example is S-Video]
[root at hairball ~]# kldload cxm
[root at hairball ~]# pvr250-setchannel -s
ioctl( tfd, METEORSINPUT ) failed.: Invalid argument
[root at hairball ~]#
Corresponding kernel message is:
Jan 28 11:48:05 hairball kernel: cxm0: video decoder failed to lock
Is anyone out there using a PVR250 or other Conexant iTVC16 (not 15)
-based board and using S-Video or composite input?
Suggestions welcome!
Thanks,
Dominic
