Wrong. Wavs are final products, but .mid files are powerful "development"
tool. They are used to synchronize things, to make arrangements, etc. Some
people create reference midi files before recording real instruments, others
simply create drum tracks to use computer as a drum machine. Yes, samplers
are commonly used to play .mid files, but MIDI is still useful for sync
purposes.
