Position Summary: LANDesk’s rapidly growing suite of software is comprised of Systems, Security, Asset and Service Management solutions. The Senior Software Engineer develops applications for one
or more of these solution sets. The Senior Software Engineer will team
with other experienced engineering, product management, quality
assurance and technical support staff members to deliver high quality
products that meet customer requirements. This delivery will take place
using a proven Agile development process.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
•Understand customer needs and business issues to contribute to functional requirements
•Use functional requirements as the basis for research, analysis, and solution design
•Participate in software design and architectural discussions
•Assist Principal Engineers in design studies and prepare portions of engineering proposals
•Produce effective object oriented implementations
•Include automated testing in all development projects
•Gain proficiency with the products, and seek to become an expert in one engineering discipline or specialty area
•Maintain existing code, including automated tests
•Be actively engaged in both ‘what we do’ and ‘how we do it’ by
working closely with the other engineers, testers, product manager, and
product support engineers
•Participate in the continuous improvement of the development process
•Develop and share knowledge about both the product and the code
•May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
•3 plus years of related experience as a Software Engineer with Linux application and web development
•Extensive Knowledge in C and C++, working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, PHP, SQL. Knowledge of CakePHP would be a bonus
•Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
•Excellent time management, decision making, prioritization and organization skills
•Strong technical troubleshooting skills and problem solving
•Demonstrates the ability to think through situations outside the
norm and develop appropriate solutions, isolating the root cause
•Extensive Knowledge of Linux and Unix (Solaris and HPUX) operating systems
•Must be able to work well with others as part of a team
Preferred:
•Experience with Linux and Unix packaging systems (rpm, pkgutils and swutils).
•Experience with web services.
•Experience with Agile development.
•Experience configuring and supporting Linux and Unix based computers and networks.
Education/Certification/Licensing:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or demonstrated equivalent experience.
