strverscmp not detected missing

In attempting to install aegis-4.24-RC2 on FreeBSD I discovered the 
following (effects all versions of aegis/autoconf) on FreeBSD 8-CURRENT 
(AMD64) [note to FreeBSD people I am posting this in -current and not 
ports since it appears to be a base system problem vs. a ports one].... 
there is no strverscmp defined in the above version of FreeBSD (there 
was upto a few days ago) and configure incorrectly thinks there is 
namely the following line:

checking for strverscmp... yes

This causes it to set HAVE_STRVERSCMP=1 and thus the build fails.
