Changing DHCP to SYNCDHCP "fixes" the issue. I'll try to see if I can

Unfortunately, I didn't get that far this time -- it died in the
configure stage of the libtool build. I still don't have a serial
cable to connect with. Can you break into the kernel debugging with
a USB keyboard? Once it was stuck, I could not change to another
console with Alt-F2. Pinging the box caused the network interface
LED to blink, but there wasn't any reply. I don't imagine the build
log will help much, but I attached it anyway. -- George
