Well, what I've done yseterday: downloaded redhat boot image
(aic7890.html), booted debian linux with redhat's kernel image, installed
debian onto my scsi drive, downloaded 2.0.35 kernel source
(linux-2_0_35_tar.gz), applied patch from aic7xxx-5_1_2-2_0_35_patch.gz,
reconfigured and recompiled new kernel and voila it works.
To apply a patch execute
cd /usr/src;patch -p0 <aic7xxx-5_1_2-2_0_35_patch.gz
