aic7860 on mainboard

Hello friends...

I am attempting to use linux 2.0.x on a machine with an IWill P55tv
mainboard with aic7860 integrated.  I have heard rumors that this
mainboard will never work.  could someone confirm or deny this for me?  If
anyone has made this board work, please let me know so that I can collect
info needed to roubleshoot.
