This is why almost all my computers dual-boot. I virtually never use
Windows but it's handy to keep it around for things like firmware
updates.

This morning, I rebootked into a long-idle copy of Win10 just to make
a ChromeOS Flex bootable USB for a colleague, for instance.

There are other ways. _Some_ modern firmware can load an update file
from a FAT-formatted medium -- such as the UEFI system partition,
conceivably -- and install it from there. Or, maybe, from a USB key.

Or you could try booting into a live Windows medium such as Hiren's Boot CD.
