Bug ID: 274889
Summary: devel/py-setuptools_scm7: conflicts with
devel/py-setuptools_scm
Product: Ports & Packages
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: Individual Port(s)

devel/py-setuptools_scm and devel/py-setuptools_scm7 conflict.
This can result in cases where one cannot install some ports (if a port that
has a run-time dependency on a conflicting py-setuptools_scm is already
installed).
For example, x11-toolkits/py-python-xlib and devel/py-hatch-vcs are two ports
that have the conflicting dependencies. The former was just updated to depend
on devel/py-setuptools_scm7. py-python-xlib only has a build-time dependency
on py-setuptools_scm7, so that's not a case that prevents installing the port.
It only prevents building it in a tree that has py-setuptools_scm already
installed. You can work around that by building py-python-xlib in isolation
(e.g., in poudriere).
