Seems to be related to java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true. Setting 

-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=false

in /usr/local/etc/elasticsearch/jvm.options

fixes it. So it's rather a JDK issue than something specific to Elasticsearch.
