Upstream has not accepted the mentioned patch. There is more than one approach
to fixing the linked issue, but regardless needs upstream testing and
maintainer approval.
Note that certain security issues relate to deprecated components, so fixes for
them almost certainly will not happen.
Closing this as purely speculating is not productive.
