To cheer you up, I can say that on the Linux system (a Debian-based 
Linux distribution with an older Radeon GPU), I experience the same 
issue: on one of my PCs, the monitor connected via DisplayPort isn’t 
detected unless I power it on manually, for example after a power outage.
