You do remember right. I have one Pi2 with a USB hard disk
which does not warn of excess swap, reports 1.7GB of swap
and from time to time hangs irrecoverably (no debugger
access) at least a couple of times during buildworld
cycles. It's a very slight outlier in having a USB2
to PATA bridge instead of USB-SATA on other hosts.


Your point about avoiding misconfiguration is well
taken in light of the fragmentation issue.
