*The DVD-R DL format was released   to   the market in 2005.   ( 
according  to  the  Google AI   & Wikipedia ) *
  Your  DVD Writer/Reader     needs  to  have been  bought   for more  
than  15   years  ago,  to not  support DVD-DL format.
basically  three  Computer generations.
