So this doesn't happen 100%. I've thought I've seen it happen where the old
root is the new root, except the kernel and all the config files are loaded
from the new root. So you boot new kernel, old root. But only sometimes, since
other times it works like you'd expect. I've only seen this in the heat of
debugging when I didn't have a moment to look, but when I did, I couldn't
recreate it.
Do you have a foolproof way to always trigger it?
