White display/screen when launching Beryl

Hi,
 
I have installed ModularXorg from the info on the wiki. Everything
appears to have installed correctly although when I launch Beryl-manager
all I see is a white display yet it seems as though the desktop is still
active behind the white display.
 
I have tried various searches to rectify the problem but to no avail.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?
