I think upgrading X11 is best done while X11 is not running. There is
also the risc that something fails and it takes N hours to make it work
again.
Ideally I would have two computers, one to keep working on and one to
upgrade. And then switch between the two. But I have only one.

I fully understand the need to move to Xorg 7.2. But for such a big
move I would actually expect an OS release.

Emacs is a nice OS - but it lacks a good text editor.
