What startup script is supposed to handle ipv6_defaultrouter="..."?

Sorry about the noise.

Maybe I wasn't too patient, but I will swear that netstat -rnf inet6 
showed no default route even when it was supposed to. And yes, I did 
reboot the system to verify my settings.

Again, my bad.
