5.x, mergemaster dying due to problem w/ "mtree -eU ..."

I tried it in *multiuser* mode.  Regardless of /etc/mergemaster.rc,
mergemaster worked w/o any problems.

I will try using /etc/mergemaster.rc in single user mode when i will
get the opportunity.  I doubt that mergemaster will get past the mtree
error there.
